Terms of use

The short version

OurDot is a free, private family app. Guardians are responsible for the kids they invite. Be kind, share only what you have the right to share, and don't use OurDot to hurt anyone. You own what you post. We can remove content or accounts that break these rules.

1. Who we are

OurDot is provided by MadCap Associates LLC, 100 N Howard St, Ste R, Spokane, WA 99201 ("we"). By using OurDot, you agree to these terms and our privacy policy.

2. Who can use OurDot

  • Adults may start a family only if they are a parent or legal guardian of the children they invite.
  • Children use OurDot only through an invite from their guardian, who gives consent for them and is responsible for their use.
  • Everyone else joins only through a guardian's invite.

3. Your account

You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email. Keep access to that email secure. Tell us at help@ourdot.app if you think someone else has used your account.

4. What you share

You own the posts, photos, messages, voice notes and other things you share. You give us permission to store, process and show them to the people in your family, only so we can run OurDot. Share only what you have the right to share, and don't share other people's private information without their permission.

5. Be kind and lawful

Don't use OurDot to harass, threaten, bully or exploit anyone; to share sexual content involving minors or any illegal content; to impersonate someone; or to try to break, scrape or get around OurDot's security or limits. We report child sexual exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, as the law requires.

6. Reports and removal

Anyone can report a post or message. We may hide or remove content, and suspend or remove accounts, that break these terms or put someone at risk. Guardians can remove anyone from their family at any time.

7. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from the Family tab. Guardians can delete a child's account. What happens to your information is described in the privacy policy.

8. A beta app

OurDot is in early family beta. Features may change, and things may sometimes break. OurDot is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. OurDot helps families connect, but it is not an emergency service and doesn't replace a guardian's care. In an emergency, call 911.

9. Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, MadCap Associates LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for what other users post or do, and our total liability is limited to $100.

10. Changes and law

If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before the change takes effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA.
