Earning Online, the Honest Way

Two tracks: Makers (ages 10–17, 6 lessons) and Builders (18+, 8 lessons). Lessons cover what earning online really looks like, choosing a first business with a guardian, money basics, spotting scams and too-good offers, why ads should say they're ads, and owning your face and your work. Sources include the FTC, the US Department of Labor and the IRS.

Where the lessons come from

Lessons draw on Google's Be Internet Awesome, NCMEC's NetSmartz and Take It Down, and the American Academy of Pediatrics' guidance on media use. Each lesson lists its sources. What research says about teaching online safety.

A growing library

Families can request topics from a library that's being researched now, from planning to own a home to breathing and calm. Each one goes through the same research process before it opens.

Common questions

How long is each OurDot lesson?

About three minutes. A new lesson opens each day, and short refreshers come back later.

Do lessons count against game time?

No. Learning never counts against the daily game time a guardian sets.

Bring your family together, the safe way.

Free for every family. A guardian starts the family and invites everyone else.
