Guardians stay in charge.

You decide who's in the family, when the app rests, and how much game time each child gets. The line between you and your child never closes.

In short

Guardians set school mode and sleep mode times for each child (sleep mode defaults to 8:30 pm to 7 am), daily game time, and each child's age range. The locks run on OurDot's servers, so they can't be skipped by changing a phone setting.

School mode

Choose the days and hours. During school mode, a child's OurDot rests except the guardian line. What research says about phones at school.

Sleep mode

8:30 pm to 7 am by default; you choose. Everything rests except the guardian line. What research says about screens and sleep.

Game time

Pick daily game time per child, and give 15 more minutes with one tap. Lessons never count against it.

Who's in the family

Only guardians invite. Adults can never request a child. Remove anyone instantly.

More privacy as kids grow

Choose an age range for each child: under 13, 13 to 15, or 16 to 17. Guardian checks are fuller for younger kids and lighter for teens, following the American Psychological Association's advice for more involvement in early adolescence and more independence later.

A weekly look, not surveillance

Guardians can see what kids share with the family. A child's journal stays private to the child. We think kids grow into good judgment when they're trusted with a little more each year.

Bigger, simpler screens

For young kids or grandparents, switch on bigger, simpler screens for anyone in the family.

Common questions

Can my child get around school mode or sleep mode?

No. The locks are enforced on OurDot’s servers, not on the phone, so changing the phone’s clock or settings doesn’t skip them.

Can my child still reach me during sleep mode?

Yes. The guardian line is always open, at any hour.

How much screen time should my child have?

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a family media plan rather than one number for every child. OurDot lets you set game time per child. Make a family media plan.

Bring your family together, the safe way.

Free for every family. A guardian starts the family and invites everyone else.
